Reporters have gathered for POTUS' departure on Marine One to Walter Reed Medical Center.

The departure is open press.

Once there, he is expected to make remarks to the troops and have a routine medical check up, per the White House.

On another topic, I can share from the White House that POTUS’ scheduled 5 pm news conference will be an announcement about lowering drug prices.

POTUS Oval Office event on drug pricing has begun. It’s available on streaming.

The event focuses on a deal with AstraZeneca to sell its products at Most Favored Nations status to Medicaid and expand manufacturing and R&D in the U.S. by $50B

Some highlights from the Oval Office event:

-POTUS said he plans to visit with "a lot of leaders from all over the world" in Cairo during his trip to the Middle East to discuss the future of Gaza.
-POTUS said Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado called him and dedicated the award to him. He said she told him, "I'm accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserve it."
-POTUS said there will be "a lot" of layoffs due to the government shutdown, which he said was the fault of Democrats. He said the layoffs would target Democrats' priorities. "It'll be a lot and it will be Democrat oriented, because we figure, you know, they started this thing, so they should be Democrat oriented."

More highlights from the Oval Office event. Below are POTUS' quotes on China.

On a meeting with Xi:
"No I haven't canceled but I don't know that we're gonna have it but I'm gonna be there regardless so I would assume we might have it. But, you know, they hit the world with something that really is not anything that people are gonna do. And and it's, it was shocking, I can tell you, Howard and I and Todd, we all, we all, Scott, we were all speaking about it before. And it was, we said where did that come from? It was just, that was out of the blue. Right. Out of the blue, they came up with this whole import export concept, and nobody, nobody knew anything about it."

On if China rolls back export controls:
"We're gonna have to see what happens. That's why I made it November 1. We'll see what happens."

On what else could be on the table besides software in terms of export controls:
"You have a lot more. We have airplanes. We have airplane parts. You remember that from last time? We were just surprised that China, have a very good relationship with President Xi, and they did that. This is not something that I you know instigated. This was just a response to something that they did, and they didn't really aim it at us. They aimed it at the whole world. The whole world is subject to it. So I thought it was very, very bad. But we have many things, including a big thing is airplane. They have a lot of Boeing planes, and they need parts and lots of things like that."

M1 touched down at the Walter Reed landing zone at 10:54 a.m.

POTUS disembarked at 10:58 a.m. but pool is positioned too far away for shouted questions.

POTUS stepped into the Beast at 10:58 a.m.

Supplemental pool #2 - Pool is holding

The motorcade stopped shortly afterward around the corner.

Pool is holding in the vans and did not have eyes on POTUS after he stepped into the Beast.

Pool moved from holding in the vans to a classroom in the presidential zone of a nearby building. We are now moving again for POTUS’s departure from Walter Reed.

Supplemental pool #4 - M1 lift

The motorcade started rolling toward the pool, positioned near the Walter Reed landing zone, at 1:55 p.m.

POTUS waved to the pool as he drove by in the Beast.

POTUS stepped out of the Beast and boarded M1 at 1:56 p.m. He waved again and pumped his fist. He was accompanied by Natalie Harp.
