White House Press Release - President Trump Launches 'America Prays,' a Nationwide Invitation to Pray for our Country

September 08, 2025

Washington, D.C. – As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation, today President Trump spoke at the Museum of the Bible and announced the launch of "America Prays," an invitation for Americans to join together weekly to pray for our country and its people.

As President Trump said today, "Next year, we will celebrate 250 years since that Declaration was signed—and as part of the commemoration, we have invited America's great faith communities to pray for our nation, for our people, and for peace in the world…. America has always been a nation that believes in the power of prayer. We will never apologize for our faith. We will never surrender our God-given rights. We will defend our liberties, our values, our sovereignty, and our freedom. And with the help of amazing faith communities across this land, we will truly make this the Golden Age of America."

America Prays encourages people to join together in groups of ten or more to dedicate one hour a week to prayer for our nation and our fellow citizens. Read more about the initiative here.

Faith leaders across the country welcomed the initiative as a powerful step toward national rededication.

Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan's Purse, underscored the urgency of prayer, "Our greatest battles are fought on our knees, and through America Prays we can join together to ask God to guide and protect this land."

Pastor Clint Pressley, President of the Southern Baptist Convention, added, "Prayer is not just something we do privately, it is a public testimony that we depend on God for wisdom and strength. America Prays calls us back to that truth."

Troy Miller, President and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters said, "America has always turned to prayer in times of challenge, and today is no different. America Prays is an opportunity for millions of Americans to unite their voices before God for our nation's future."

Matt Potter, Founder of Pray.com, said, "Imagine a country where millions of Americans pray every day. To our God, for our Nation, and with our leaders. That's the movement we are creating, join us."

Alex Jones, CEO of Hallow, said, "Every great renewal begins with prayer. Our country was born through prayer, and by God's grace, will be renewed through it. What an honor and a joy it is to help invite us come together as a nation in prayer. May the Lord bless us and keep us."
