STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY
(House)
(Rep. Greene, R-GA, and 17 cosponsors)
The Administration strongly supports passage of H.R. 276, which codifies President Trump's January 20, 2025, Executive Order 14172, officially renaming as the "Gulf of America" the U.S. Continental Shelf area bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba.
On January 20, 2025, President Trump directed his Administration to take all appropriate actions to rename the area as the Gulf of America, emphasizing that the area has long been a vital part of America's growth and identity. H.R. 276 recognizes the official renaming of the Gulf of America, as it continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the Nation's future.
For these reasons, if H.R. 276 were presented to the President in its current form, his advisors would recommend that he sign it into law.
