Statement of Administration Policy: S.J. Res. 26, S.J. Res. 33 - Joint Resolutions Providing for Congressional Disapproval of Proposed Foreign Military Sales to Israel of Certain Defense Articles and Services
STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY
(Senate)
(Sen. Sanders, I-VT)
The Administration opposes passage of S.J. Res. 26 and S.J. Res. 33, joint resolutions that would block the proposed foreign military sales of munitions to our ally Israel.
S.J. Res. 26 would block a proposed foreign military sale of munitions to Israel, including Small Diameter Bombs, Joint Direct Attack Munition Guidance Kits and U.S. logistics and technical support services. This sale was notified to Congress on January 3, 2025 and improves Israel's capability to defeat current and future threats and minimize civilian casualties.
S.J. Res. 33 would block a proposed foreign military sale of MK 84 or BLU-117 General Purpose bombs and I-2000 Penetrator warheads to Israel. This sale improves Israel's ability to target threats in deep and hardened infrastructure like subterranean tunnels.
If S.J. Res. 26 or S.J. Res. 33 were presented to the President, his advisors would recommend he veto the joint resolution.
