VP pool report #1: Police week breakfast begins Good morning from the US Naval Observatory, where Vice President JD Vance is hosting a police week breakfast. VPOTUS and SLOTUS walked out at 9:18 am and shook hands with the attendees. SLOTUS took a seat, and VPOTUS addressed the room, in which about two dozen people are seated across four tables. OVP has told your pooler it will provide a list of attendees. Please check all quotes against the official transcript. VP Vance noted that the Trump administration was committed to supporting police officers. He said it's "less about policy and more about moral leadership" but noted the administration was prioritizing both. "We want to make it easier for police officers to keep their job and harder for people to sue police officers," Vance said. Vance then told a story he said SLOTUS had told him. "A few days ago we lost an officer in Cincinnati," he said, a man had targeted Larry Henderson, a police officer "mowed down by a bloodthirsty criminal exacting revenge." The pool was ushered out at 9:25am. Here is an Otter link: https://otter.ai/u/47U4luK6-Gcl0dlAjHzPvIeR4G8 |
