Vice Presidential Pool Reports of August 21, 2025

VP pool report 1: JBA arrival/departure

Good morning from JBA,

I will be your print pooler for the VPs trip to Georgia today. 

He will visit an industrial refrigeration manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, Georgia where he will headline a messaging event for OBBB - now more frequently referred to by the admin as President Trump's "working families tax cuts."

Event is planned for approximately 2pm

He will also deliver remarks at the RNC member meeting earlier in the day.

The VP and Second Lady arrived at JBA AT 9:42 and boarded AF2 at 9:44. They first took a photo with a retiring staff driver. They did not take questions. 

EPA administrator Lee Zeldin will be joining on AF2 and attending the event.

VP pool report 2: GA arrival

AF2 touched down in Atlanta at 11:10am.

The VP deplaned and is heading to an RNC meeting closed to press. The Second Lady is heading to host a summer reading challenge. 

Your pool is heading to the main event location.

VP pool report 3: GA Lt Gov greeting

The VPOTUS and SLOTUS were greeted on the tarmac and stopped to chat for a few minutes with the Lieutenant Governor of Georgia.

VP pool report 4: Pool on site

Pool has arrived on site at Alta Refrigeration Inc.

VP is at the closed press RNC event. 

Press van drove by a couple dozen protesters en route to the facility. 

A stage and audience setup, with approx 200 chairs. 

Tracking a potentially early start time, as soon as 1:30pm. Will update as we learn movements.

VP pool report 5: VP en route

Per Vance spox: 
VP has concluded RNC remarks and is en route to ALTA Refrigeration.

VP pool report 6: program begins

The program has started as of 1pm.

Kicking it off is Derek Dooly, Former Football Coach and Attorney. He is running for Georgia Senate.

VP pool report 7: Buddy Carter Speaks

Buddy Carter, Congressman, GA-1 (R), who is also running for Senate, is now speaking.  He praised the "one big beautiful bill act," emphasized no tax on tips and overtime. And argued that one of the most important aspects of the bill is "saving Medicaid" by instituting work requirements and making sure "we don't allow illegal immigrants" to use the program.

He also emphasized his support for Israel, and pointed out his Isreal pin.

VP pool report 8: VP has arrived

The Vice President has arrived at ALTA Refrigeration, per spox.

The event will be streamed here once the VP begins speaking. The pre-speakers are not being streamed.

VP Pool Report 9: Speaker Roundup

Here is a brief roundup of speakers and relevant messaging on OBBB, which were not livestreamed.

Mike Collins, Congressman, GA-10 (R) spoke.

• He is running for Senate.
• Called the "big beautiful bill"  a huge historical bill. Emphasized child tax care credits, and support for military.

Burt Jones, Lt. Governor of Georgia

• He is running for Governor with Trump's endorsement

Eric Brown, President of ALTA Refrigeration Inc.

• Talked about the company and introduced the next speaker

Brian Jack, Congressman, GA-3 (R)

• Emphasized "importance of promises made and promises kept."  Says he promised to vote to make tax cuts permanent, secure the boarder, unlash energy and says he delivered by voting to pass and enact President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill."

Kelly Loeffler, Administrator, Small Business Administration (SBA)

• "Biggest tax cut in American history"
• It's "rocket fuel for Main Street"
• No tax on tips and no tax on overtime emphasis
• The "One Big Beautifull Bill is proof he believes in the American worker. "

Lee Zeldin, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

• Touts DOGE cuts

VP Pool Report 10: Vance takes the stage

The Vice President took the stage at 1:57pm

He was introduced by Lee Zeldin. 

Since the event will be live streamed I will not provide comprehensive coverage of the remarks but will note any significant statements and/or news.

VP pool report 11: Vance speech

Vance says the senate candidates speaking today was his idea.

Vance referred to the bill as the "working families tax cut" almost exclusively. 

"If you're working hard the government ought to leave you alone." - speaking about no tax on tips or overtime 

Appealed single moms just like his, and went after Sen Ossoff for voting against the "working families tax cut." Very much laid the groundwork for the senate race. 

Addresses medicaid saying the only people getting kicked off are illegal aliens and those who won't look for work. Big focus on immigration. 

Told the story of going to Union Station this week.

He took questions from the press.

The first two question were about healthcare, including about concerns from Republican lawmakers about people other than illegal immigrants and people who refuse to work lose healthcare

Vance says it won't go into effect for years, giving them time so they can work to make sure American citizens who deserve healthcare don't lose it.

VP Pool Report 12: Vance wraps

VP Vance wrapped up his remarks at 2:30pm, speaking for approx 33 minutes. 

Pool is en route to the airport.

VP pool note 13: back on AF2

VP Vance arrived at AF2 around 3:08p and took a few sets of photos with what looked to be military and law enforcement groups.

Pool is now back on AF2.

Wheels down at 4:53pm at JBA.

VPOTUS and SLOTUS deplaned at 4:58pm and boarded Marine Two.
