United States Ambassador to Switzerland - Nomination of Marvin L. Warner

The President today announced that he will nominate Marvin L. Warner, of Cincinnati, Ohio, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Switzerland. Warner is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Warner National Corp.

He was born June 8, 1919, in Birmingham, Ala. He received a B.S. in 1939 from the University of Alabama, an LL.B. in 1941 from the University of Alabama Law School, and an LL..M. in 1942 from George Washington University. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1946.

From 1946 to 1949, Warner was vice president of Warner Realty and Insurance Co., in Birmingham. He served as president of Warner-Kanter, Inc., from 1950 to 1959. Since 1959 he has been with Warner National Corp., first as president, then as chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

Warner was a member of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Twentythird General Assembly in 1968. He is a member of the Democratic National Committee and of the Ohio Governor's Commission on Housing and Urban Development. He has received the Ohio Governor's Award for Distinguished Service.
