Statement by the Press Secretary: President Signs H.R. 1815, the "National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2006"

On Friday, January 6, 2006, the President signed into law:

H.R. 1815, the "National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2006," which authorizes FY 2006 appropriations for Department of Defense programs and military construction; authorizes a military pay raise and recruitment, retention, and other military benefits; authorizes FY 2006 appropriations for Department of Energy national security programs; establishes detainee-related policies; modifies acquisition-related authorities; and makes other modifications to national security and related programs.
