On May 11, 2007, the President signed into law:
H.R. 1681, the "American National Red Cross Governance Modernization Act of 2007," which (1) reduces the number of members of the Board of Governors of the American National Red Cross from 50 to no more than 20 by March 2012; (2) establishes an advisory council to the Board of Governors; and (3) establishes an Office of the Ombudsman within the Red Cross.
