Statement by the Press Secretary on H.R. 3021 and H.R. 3104

On July 1, 2005, the President signed into law:

H.R. 3021, the "TANF Extension Act of 2005," which extends certain welfare and related programs, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families; and

H.R. 3104, the "Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2005, Part II," which provides funding for programs funded from the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) and extends the authority to make expenditures from the HTF for HTF-financed programs.
