Statement by the Press Secretary on H.R. 2361, H.R. 2985, S. 45, and S. 1395

On Tuesday, August 2, 2005, the President has signed into law:

H.R. 2361, the "Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2005."

H.R. 2985, the "Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2005."

S. 45, which amends the Controlled Substances Act to lift the patient limitation on prescribing drug addiction treatments by medical practitioners in group practices.

S. 1395, the "Controlled Substances Export Reform Act of 2005," which amends the Controlled Substances Import and Export Act to provide authority for the Attorney General to authorize the export of controlled substances from the United States if certain conditions and safeguards are satisfied.
