Statement by the Press Secretary on H.R. 1303, H.R. 4363, S. 741, S. 2264, and S.J. Res 38

On Monday, August 02, 2004, the President signed into law:

H.R. 1303, which modifies the requirements for rules prescribed by the Supreme Court to address privacy and security issues related the electronic filing and public availability of Federal court documents;

H.R. 4363, the "Helping Hands for Homeownership Act of 2004" which clarifies eligibility requirements for a Department of Housing and Urban Development grant program;

S. 741, which establishes new ways to lawfully market drugs to treat diseases that occur infrequently in animals or that occur only in certain species, and requires that labels for food products clearly state the presence of any of eight major food allergens;

S. 2264, the "Northern Uganda Crisis Response Act" which requires the Department of State to report to Congress on the conflict in Northern Uganda; and

S.J.Res. 38, which appoints Eli Broad as a citizen regent of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution.
