Statement of Administration Policy: S. 1078 - Federal Trade Commission Act Amendments

STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY

(Hasten (R) Wisconsin and 3 others)

The Administration would not object to enactment of S. 1078 if it is amended to delete: (1) the prohibition against the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) conducting any study or investigation of agricultural cooperative activities which are currently exempt from antitrust law or of agricultural marketing orders and (2) the new Section 24 of the FTC Act, which concerns the role of the Secretary of Agriculture in FTC investigations of antitrust violations by agricultural cooperatives.
