Statement of Administration Policy: H.R. 2056 - District of Columbia Federal Immigration Compliance Act
STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY
(House Rules)
(Rep. Higgins, R-LA, and Rep. Moore, R-AL)
The Administration strongly supports the passage of H.R. 2056, the District of Columbia Federal Immigration Compliance Act. Across the country, sanctuary jurisdictions continue to undermine the rule of law by refusing to cooperate with immigration enforcement authorities. Time and time again, we have watched as these radical Left cities exploit their "sanctuary status" to shield criminals, jeopardizing community safety and undermining U.S. sovereignty. H.R. 2056 decisively ends this reckless policy, restoring law and order to our Nation's capital.
As both our Nation's capital and the home to many of our Federal government and law enforcement agencies, the District of Columbia's status as a sanctuary city is embarrassing and dangerous.
We strongly support this legislation, which delivers on President Trump's promise to make our Nation's capital safe and beautiful again. By abolishing Washington, D.C.'s reckless sanctuary city status, H.R. 2056 significantly advances the restoration of law and order to our capital. This bill is a significant step in returning our beloved Nation's capital to We the People, ensuring it stands as a safe, clean, and proud symbol of patriotism that every American can enjoy.
If H.R. 2056 were presented to the President in its current form, his advisors would recommend that he sign it into law.
