Statement of Administration Policy: H.J. Res. 60 - Joint Resolution Providing for Congressional Disapproval of the Rule Submitted by the National Park Service Relating to "Glen Canyon National Recreation Area: Motor Vehicles"
STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY
(House Rules)
(Rep. Maloy, R-UT, and three cosponsors)
The Administration strongly supports passage of H.J. Res. 60, which would disapprove the rule submitted by the National Park Service relating to "Glen Canyon National Recreation Area: Motor Vehicles." The January 13, 2025 rule prohibits the use of off-road vehicles (OHVs) and street-legal all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on 24 miles of roads in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in the State of Utah.
The rule unnecessarily limits recreation opportunities on Federal lands and is not supported by local and State officials. It is essential that recreational opportunities in the National Recreation Area remain open.
For these reasons, if H.J. Res. 60 were presented to the President in its current form, his advisors would recommend that he sign it into law.
