STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY

The Administration strongly supports passage of H.J. Res. 42, a joint resolution to disapprove the rule submitted by the Department of Energy relating to "Energy Conservation Program for Appliance Standards: Certification Requirements, Labeling Requirements, and Enforcement Provisions for Certain Consumer Products and Commercial Equipment."

The October 9, 2024 rule establishes and amends the certification provisions, labeling requirements, reporting requirements, and enforcement provisions for specific types of consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment including pool heaters, dishwashers, residential clothes washers, battery chargers, and lightbulbs among others that impact all Americans.

The Administration is committed to reducing regulatory burdens on American businesses and consumers, and this misguided rule imposes significant new costs each year.

If this bill were presented to the President in its current form, his advisors would recommend that he sign it into law.
