Sanders Campaign Press Release - Sanders Campaign Submits Paperwork to Get on Virginia Primary Ballot

RICHMOND, Va. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders' Virginia campaign delivered 17,882 petition signatures to the Department of Elections in Richmond on Friday to place the senator's name on the primary election ballot as a Democratic Party candidate for president.

"The volunteers here in Virginia collected over three times the required 5,000 signatures," said Peter Clerkin, Sanders' Virginia state director. "It's a testament to the excitement and enthusiasm Bernie is generating in Virgnia and across the country."

Sanders is the first Democratic candidate to submit signatures ahead of the December 10 deadline.
