Remarks in an Exchange With Reporters Upon Arrival From Morristown, New Jersey
Q. First of all, happy birthday for the First Lady.
The President. Thank you. Thank you.
And we have Saquon——
Rwanda/Democratic Republic of the Congo
Q. Yes, Mr. President——
The President. ——one of the greats.
Q. ——you just shared on your social media——
The President. Yes.
Q. ——about the great news for Africa. Can you tell more? The African people are very, very excited.
The President. We do. We have great news, I believe, coming up with Rwanda and the Congo. And I think you're going to be seeing peace in Rwanda and the Congo and a few other nations right around, and that would be a terrific thing. So we hope that's going to happen.
Africa/Economic Development
Q. And, also, your administration will invest over $6 billion to the Angolan Lobito Corridor that will basically transport minerals—critical minerals from Congo, Angola, and many other countries.
The President. Yes, we're looking to do some nice things, keep it peaceful. We're going to keep it peaceful.
Thank you, darling.
[At this point, several reporters began asking questions at once.]
Q. Can I ask you about the measles outbreak?
Q. Mr. President, what's next for cleaning up the courts after Judge Dugan's arrest.
The President. Yes, go ahead.
Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge for Milwaukee County Hanah Dugan/Immigration Enforcement Actions
Q. What's next for cleaning up the courts after Judge Dugan's arrest.
The President. Oh, it's terrible. What happened there is terrible. That that could happen with a judge is so a shame. And we have to—look, we have to bring our country back from all these criminals that Biden allowed to come in. These are world-class criminals and people that are insane, people from jails—murderers, drug addicts, drug dealers.
And you know, we have a country. We have to be proud of our country. We can't let these people stay, and the courts are allowing them to stay. And we're not going to—we're just not going to allow it. So, hopefully, the Supreme Court will come to the rescue of our country.
Thank you. We're going to show the Oval.
NOTE: The President spoke at 7:16 p.m. on the South Lawn at the White House. In his remarks, he referred to Saquon Barkley, running back, National Football League's Philadelphia Eagles; and former President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. The transcript was released by the Office of Communications on April 28.
