Remarks in an Exchange With Reporters in Dawson Springs, Kentucky

December 15, 2021

Q. Mr. President, is your working on this preventing Republicans——

Voting Rights Legislation

Q. Mr. President, should congressional Democrats move on to working on voting rights legislation this year and put off your Build Back Better plan to 2022?

The President. If we can get the congressional voting rights done, we should do it. If we can't, we got to keep going. There's nothing domestically more important than voting rights. It's the single biggest issue.

Q. So you support a pivot this year to doing that?

NOTE: The President spoke at 3:27 p.m. A reporter referred to H.R. 5376.
