Remarks and an Exchange With Reporters Aboard Air Force One En Route to Miami, Florida

April 12, 2025

The President. Hello, Brian [Brian Glenn, America's Real Voice]. [Inaudible]

Q. Right. [Laughter]

The President. A good location, for a change.

Q. Well, I moved out of the way for my——

The President. Okay. How about you move over here——

Q. Sorry.

The President. ——and I'll move around, okay? Come on. You go right over there.

Q. Swap out?

The President. Yes.

Okay, that's good. Thank you.

Q. Hello, Mr. President.

The President. Hello, everybody.

Q. How are you?

The President. How are you?

Q. How are you?

The President. Jeff [Jeff Mason, Reuters].

So we're going to the fight, and we have lots of fights going around the world. And I think we have a lot of good news coming soon about some of those fights, and we'll see how it goes. But it's been an interesting weekend. I think we have some pretty good news coming on some of the conflicts.

Iran

Q. How did Iran talks——

Q. Will you give us a readout on the Iran talks, sir?

The President. I think they're going okay.

Q. What was your——

The President. I think they're——

Q. What—what did Mr. Witkoff——

The President. Well, I can't——

Q. ——tell you about them?

The President. ——tell you, because it doesn't—nothing matters until you get it done, so I don't like talking about it, but it's going okay. The Iran situation is going pretty good——

Q. Are there other talks that are going well, sir?

The President. ——I think.

Ukraine/Russia

Q. Are there other talks that are going well, in addition to the Iran talks you mentioned?

The President. There are other talks going well. I think Ukraine-Russia might be going okay. And you're going to be finding out pretty soon. You know, it's a—there's a point at which you just have to either put up or shut up, and we'll see what happens. But I think it's going fine.

I think we have the tariffs in very good shape. We've got a lot of things going, don't we, huh? When you think about—we've got a lot of things going.

Inflation

Q. Yes, I was going to say, the core inflation is dropping. Americans have more money for——

The President. Inflation is dropping. Americans have more money, and the country has more money. You know, we've been making $2 and $3 billion a day the last couple of weeks. We didn't make that ever, and we're making a lot of money. And then I—to be nice, I lowered the tariffs on everybody, but we've been making a lot of money, and it's always been the other way around. Other countries—in particular, China was making a lot of money.

Q. It's interesting. I was with you on the campaign this time last year, and Americans were telling me they weren't planning to take a summer vacation because of inflation, gas prices, airline tickets.

The President. Right.

Border Security

Q. It's a different scenario now. What's your message to the American family when they eye those summer vacations this year?

The President. Well, we have no inflation. We have lots of success. We have a lot of great things in the hope column. We hope it's going to be concluded—some of these things.

We have a border that's totally sealed at a level that nobody has seen. Even during my 4 years—I was very successful with it, but I think we have it even a little more closed. We are allowing people into the country, but they have to come in legally.

But I appreciate your question. Yes, we have no inflation, and people are doing well.

Q. Mr. President, Mr. President——

U.S. Senate Race in Texas

Q. Mr. President, in Texas, Ken Paxton is running against John Cornyn for Senate. Are you going to endorse in that race? Do you have any——

The President. Well, they're——

Q. ——thoughts on that?

The President. ——both friends of mine. They're both good men. And I don't know. We don't know who else is running, but these two, you know, Ken and John, they're both friends of mine, so I'll make a determination at the right time.

Tariffs

Q. Mr. President, the—your administration announced some exemptions on the China tariffs—iPhones, computers, televisions, that kind of thing. You're preparing separate semiconductor tariffs. Can you walk us through that decision and——

The President. I'll give you——

Q. ——what made you do that?

The President. I'll give you that answer on Monday.

Q. On Monday——

The President. We'll be very specific on Monday.

Q. What do you—are suggesting you'll announce——

The President. But we're taking in a lot of money. As a country, we're taking in a lot of money.

You guys have to sit down. We're landing. Okay? I don't want you to get hurt, especially.

Q. Yes, sir.

The President. Have a good time. Thank you, everybody.

Q. Thank you, sir.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

The President. Are you all going to the fight tonight?

Q. We are.

Q. Who will win, do you think?

The President. Well, you have a lot of good fights. You know who is going to win? Dana White. Dana White is going to win. That's the only one I——

Q. Everyone wants to see the iconic walk out. You light up arenas.

The President. We'll be doing it tonight.

Q. Yes. Yes.

The President. Off the record, we'll be doing it tonight. Off the record, I think we're doing it tonight.

Have a good time, everybody.

Q. Thank you, Mr. President.

The President. You'll have some fun.

Q. Thank you.
