Readout of Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff's Virtual Back to School Roundtable with LGBTQI+ Students
Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff hosted a virtual roundtable with LGBTQI+ high school students to hear about their back-to-school experiences. During the meeting, the students shared how legislation in states that targets and discriminates against the LGBTQI+ community has impacted them and their peers. They referenced Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill and the need to defend and protect LGBTQI+ rights. The Second Gentleman discussed the Biden-Harris Administration's actions to support LGBTQI+ youth and advance LGBTQI+ equality. He continued to encourage civic participation among young people and expressed his commitment for ensuring that every young person feels safe and loved for who they are.
