Readout of Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff's Meeting with the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom

Today, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain met with Chair Abe Cooper and commissioners from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. During the meeting, the Second Gentleman, Ambassador Hussain, and USCIRF Commissioners discussed efforts to promote and protect religious freedom around the world, including countering transnational repression. Participants also stressed the importance of ensuring the advancement of human rights and democratic values remains at the center of U.S. foreign policy. Mr. Emhoff and Ambassador Hussain highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration's actions to protect fundamental freedoms and to counter all forms of hate, including Antisemitism and Islamophobia.
