Readout of Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff's Meeting with Corporate Leaders and Women Entrepreneurs at Visa Global Headquarters

As part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Assistant to the President and Director of the Gender Policy Council Jennifer Klein, and other Biden-Harris Administration officials met with private sector partners and civil society organizations at Visa Global Headquarters to discuss the importance of women's participation in sustainable economies.

During the meeting, they discussed actions the Biden-Harris Administration is taking to create economic opportunities for women and girls in the United States and around the world. The Second Gentleman heard from corporate leaders and women entrepreneurs about the work they are doing to advance women's economic empowerment. Mr. Emhoff also highlighted the newly announced U.S.-led Women in the Sustainable Economy (WISE) Initiative.

The WISE Initiative aims to bolster women's economic empowerment globally by expanding access to employment, training, leadership roles, and financial resources in the industries critical to our future and the future of our planet. The Vice President announced more than $900 million in commitments by governments, private sector companies, foundations, and civil society to advance women's economic participation in sectors such as clean energy, fisheries, recycling, forest management, and environmental conservation.
