Press Release - Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Neil M. Barofsky, of New York, to be Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program at the Department of the Treasury. He currently serves as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and Chief of the Mortgage Fraud Group. Prior to this, he served as a lead prosecutor in the Southern District's Securities Fraud Unit. Previously, he served in the Southern District's International Narcotics Trafficking Unit. Mr. Barofsky earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and his JD from the New York University School of Law.
