President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Designation of Alfred J. McGuire as Chairman.

The President today announced that he has designated Alfred J. McGuire as Chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. McGuire has been a member of this Council since 1978.

He is a college basketball commentator for NBC. He was head basketball coach for Marquette University from 1964 to 1977 and athletic director from 1973 to 1977. He played for the New York Knicks from 1951 to 1954.
