Out-of-town pool report 5: Landed & gaggle notes AF1 was wheels down in Hagerstown at 4:49 pm after an uneventful ride. One quick note, your pool spotted Boris Epshteyn on board, h/t co-pooler Jonathan Swan. Gaggle notes and transcript below. Reminder to please check against the audio. In the gaggle, POTUS would not say what was happening this evening at Camp David, but noted the privacy guarantees there and that he'd be meeting with military leaders. He also said he "can't say" when asked about whether foreign visitors would be attending. Transcript below is in order — Camp David bit a few questions down. He also fielded several questions on Los Angeles. Q: Will he invoke the insurrection act? A: Depends on whether or not there's an insurrection. Q: Do you believe there is? A: No. But you've got violent people, and we're not going to let them get away with it. Q: On dems and immigration, and whether they'll be able to win a national election with their message: A: I think you're going to see some very strong law and order. Q: Asked about CNN/ Dana Bash protest coverage: A: I think it was a riot. I think it was very bad. It was covered as a riot by almost everyone. Q: why is he going to Camp David? A: We're going up to Camp David, we have meetings with various people about very major subjects…doing it at camp David because probably better security there than any other place. We'll be meeting with a lot of people, including generals, as you know, and admirals. Q: What are the meetings are about? A: No, but we'll be meeting with military people and others. Q: Will there be foreign visitors at camp David? A: Can't say that. Q: Even without insurrection act, plans for sending troops? A: We're going to have troops everywhere. We're not going to let this happen to our country. We're not going to let our country be torn apart like it was under Biden and his auto pen. Q: What is the bar for sending marines? A: The bar is what I think it is. If we see danger to our country and to our citizens, we will be be very very strong in terms of law and order. It's about law and order. Q: Is sending active duty marines on the table? A: We're going to see what we need. We'll send what ever we need to ensure there's law and order. Q: Protests spreading? A: We're going to be watching it very closely…they spit at people. You know they spit, that's their new thing. They spit, and worse, you know what they throw at them, right? And when that happens, I have a little statement….they spit, we hit. And I told them, nobody's going to spit on our police officers. No body's going to spit on our military…it's a common thing, they get up to them this far away and then they start spitting in their face. That happens, they get hit very hard. Q: What are the rules of engagement for federal troops? A: We're just going to see what happens. If we think there's a serious insurrection …we're going to have law and order. Q: How would you define insurrection? A: You really just have to look at the site. You have to see what's happening. Last night in Los Angeles, we watched it very closely, there was a lot of violence. There was a lot of violence, and it could've gotten much worse. You have an incompetent governor, just take a look at the train stations…20 times over budget, nobody's ever seen anything like it. I did call him the other night, I said, look take care of this, otherwise I'm sending in the troops. Q: Could CA officials face federal charges if they stand in the way of the deportations? A: If officials stand in the way of law and order, yeah, they will face federal charges. |

Out-of-town pool report 6: Rolling for Camp David POTUS walked down the steps of AF1 and entered his vehicle at 4:59 pm. He appeared to mouth "thank you," and did not stop to talk with the pool. The motorcade is rolling to Camp David as of 5:01 pm for POTUS drop off. |

Out-of-town pool report 7: Camp David arrival The motorcade arrived to the Camp David drop-off point at 5:39 pm. On the drive from Hagerstown to Camp David, onlookers stood in parking lots and driveways watching the motorcade pass by. Many filmed, some waved and a few were spotted holding American flags. One group waved a flag that displayed the image of President Trump raising his fist in the air after the attempted assassination, with the words "Trump 2024" and "Fight, fight, fight." That's all from me. Thanks to my co-poolers for the help this weekend. |
