Office of Personnel Management Recess Appointment of Bernhardt K. Wruble as Director of the Office of Government Ethics.

The President today announced the recess appointment of Bernhardt K. Wruble, of New York City, as Director of the Office of Government Ethics in the Office of Personnel Management.

Wruble, 36, is a graduate of Williams College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He served as a law clerk for the late Judge Phillip Forman of the Third Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals. From 1967 to 1977, he was an associate and then a partner of the New York law firm of Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett. From August 1977 to the present, he has served as Principal Deputy General Counsel to the Department of the Army.

Wruble will serve as Director of the Office of Government Ethics until a permanent Director is nominated and confirmed.
