Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission Designation of Timothy F. Cleary as Chairman.

The President today announced the designation of Timothy F. Cleary, of Bethesda, Md., as Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Cleary has been a member of the Commission since 1973.

He was born September 30, 1925, in Cork, Ireland. He received a B.S. from Fordham University in 1955 and an LL.B. from Fordham University Law School in 1959. He served in U.S. naval aviation from 1943 to 1945.

From 1959 to 1967, Cleary was an attorney for the New York City Police Department Legal Bureau. From 1967 to 1969, he was a staff attorney at the Labor Department, and from 1969 to 1971 he was a trial attorney and Supervisory Assistant Counsel for Litigation in the Fair Labor Standards Division there.

Cleary was Chief Counsel to Commissioner Alan F. Burch of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission from 1971 until 1973, when he became a member of the Commission.
