Nomination of Jill E. Kent To Be Chief Financial Officer at the Department of State

The President today announced his intention to nominate Jill E. Kent, of the District of Columbia, to be Chief Financial Officer at the Department of State. This is a new position.

Since 1989 Ms. Kent has served as Deputy to the Under Secretary for Management at the Department of State. Prior to this she served at the Department of the Treasury as: Assistant Secretary for Management, 1988 - 1989; Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Departmental Finance and Management, 1986 - 1988; and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Finance and Planning, 1985 - 1986.

Ms. Kent graduated from the University of Michigan (B.A., 1970) and George Washington University (J.D., 1975, and LL.M., 1979). She was born June 1, 1948, in Detroit, MI. Ms. Kent is married and resides in Washington, DC.
