Nomination of James Curtis Mack II To Be Deputy Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The President today announced his intention to nominate James Curtis Mack II to be Deputy Administrator, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce. He would succeed Anthony Calio.

Mr. Mack served as executive director of Citizens for the Republic in Santa Monica, CA, in 1979-1985. Previously he served at the Veterans Administration regional office in Los Angeles as assistant to the Regional Director and assistant veterans services officer in 1973-1979. Since 1984 he has served as a Commissioner on the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. He is also a director of Brentwood Square Savings and Loan Association in Los Angeles.

Mr. Mack graduated from the University of Southern California (B.A., 1967; M.P.A., 1969; M.A., 1976). He was born December 22, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA, where he now resides.
