Message to Prime Minister U Nu on the Flood Disaster in Burma.

September 16, 1961

His Excellency U Nu:

On behalf of the Government and the people of the United States I express deepest sympathy for losses suffered by victims of the severe floods which have devastated large areas of your country. Ambassador Everton has already made certain funds available for relief and I have asked him to discuss with your government other emergency measures which the United States Government might be able to take to help relieve suffering.

JOHN F. KENNEDY

Note: In his message, released at Hyannis, Mass., the President referred to the American Ambassador to Burma, John S. Everton.
