CHARLESTON, S.C. — Heading into the second presidential debate, Nikki Haley stands apart as the only candidate who handily beats Joe Biden in the general election.
This week, NBC News released a new poll showing Haley with a 46% - 41% lead over Joe Biden, while the other candidates tested are either tied or behind Biden.
The NBC News poll follows a CNN poll that similarly showed Haley beating Biden 49% - 43%, the only Republican candidate with a sizable, outside-the-margin-of-error lead over the sitting president.
These numbers mirror what Biden campaign strategists are telling people, according to Politico: "When you ask President Joe Biden's brain trust who they're really worried about, you'll hear one name. 'If they nominate Nikki Haley, we're in trouble,' said a senior Democratic strategist close with the Biden campaign."
