Fighting Fentanyl, Combatting China

NH Journal: "'We have to kick this where it starts. And that means you go to China and say, We will end all normal trade relations with you until you stop killing Americans. We have to be that firm, we have to be that tough,' said Haley..." (NH Journal , 7/26/23)

NBC News: "Haley discussed the impact of fentanyl at length during a community discussion with the organization Freedom Movement in Manchester Wednesday afternoon. She said her time serving as ambassador to the United Nations in 2017 and 2018 allowed her to realize 'how dangerous China is.'

"On the campaign trail, Haley has called for ending normal trade relations with China as a solution, arguing the U.S. needs to look at, 'the source' of where fentanyl is coming from." (NBC News, 7/26/23)

The State: "Nikki Haley, has been the most vocal on China and military policies in comparison to other candidates, and her experience as U.N. ambassador under Trump has led her to use the topic as a defining aspect of her campaign." (The State, 7/28/23)

Manchester Ink Link: "'Everybody needs to make sure they know how dangerous China is. They are planning war with us and have been for years,' she said. 'We have to wake up. America continues to think we'll have time to deal with China tomorrow. China is dealing with us today.'" (Manchester Ink Link, 7/26/23)

Fox News: "Nikki Haley takes aim at Beijing as she spotlights the fentanyl crisis: 'China knows exactly what they're doing'" (Fox News, 7/27/23)

WMUR News: "'We had 75,000 Americans die last year,' she said. 'Enough came across the border that would kill every single American last year. And the No. 1 cause of death for adults 18 to 49 is fentanyl. Granite Staters have dealt with it way too much, and don't think for a second China doesn't know exactly what they're doing when they send it over.'" (WMUR News, 7/26/23)

Fox Business' Stuart Varney: "You are the only Republican candidate who claims a China plan."

"China is our number one national security threat, we need to start treating them like that. No more allowing them to buy U.S. soil, and get back what they've already taken. They're doing it near military installations, it's a threat... No more passing fentanyl across the border, they know exactly what they are doing. We need to make sure we deal with the cartels and we deal with China."
