Haley Campaign Press Release - Haley Packs a Punch

June 16, 2023

CHARLESTON, S.C. – This week Nikki Haley rolled out her Iowa leadership team, sent Joe Biden a message on China, and gave Barack Obama a piece of her mind.

Looking ahead... Haley will host a town hall in Moncks Corner, S.C. on Monday, June 19. RSVP to attend here. Haley also announced another trip to New Hampshire.

Meet Haley's Iowa Team

Des Moines Register: "Nikki Haley announced Sunday who will spearhead her campaign in Iowa. Her team, a mix of young Republican strategists and state politicians, is touting the South Carolina Governor and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations as a 'new generation'ahead of the Iowa caucuses...So far, Haley has hosted or participated in 24 grassroots events in Iowa, according to her campaign team. These events have ranged from large town halls to intimate meet-and-greets." (Des Moines Register, 6/12/23)

Haley to Biden: Don't be a doormat for China.

Haley published an op-ed with five questions Secretary Blinken should ask Xi Jinping as he embarks on a trip to China.

"The story of the Biden administration's approach to China has been weakness. The president has utterly failed in his dealings with China — militarily, economically, and diplomatically. President Biden's treasury secretary, Janet L. Yellen, recently called for deepening our economic ties with China. That's insane."

Haley to Obama: "I wasn't raised to be a victim."

In a podcast with David Axelrod, Barack Obama criticized Nikki Haley's optimistic view of America as the land of opportunity. Haley fired back:

"@BarackObama set minorities back by singling them out as victims instead of empowering them. In America, hard work & personal responsibility matter. My parents didn't raise me to think that I would forever be a victim. They raised me to know that I was responsible for my success." (Twitter, 6/16/23)

What people are saying...

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu: "I think Nikki Haley has a great sense of what happens at the state, national, and international level. She brings a really unique perspective in that way. And again, she's had a lot of pressure on her but overcame a lot." (PBS, 6/11/23)

Fox News' Shannon Bream: "She continues to fight. She says, I'm going to show up. I'm going to be here every day in these early states. I'm not going to worry too much about the early polls. I am going to be on the ground and shaking hands every day, all day in all of these early states and answering every question you want to ask. She's putting in the work." (KSAZ FOX 10, 6/16/23)

Fox News' Tammy Bruce: "Well, let me tell you, Nikki Haley surprised me. I seriously underestimated her when she was picked to be the ambassador to the U.N. Talk about a shock of a delivery. That's someone who I would not underestimate again. She is serious." (Fox News, 6/11/23)

Syndicated columnist Ruben Navarrette: "Perhaps the most interesting candidate in this race — in either party — is Nikki Haley. The former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations has a lot of important and valuable things to tell her party and the rest of the country. And all Americans would be wise to listen." (Enterprise Record, 6/14/23)

Entrepreneur Tim Draper: "This is my choice for President of the United States. @NikkiHaley #freedom #trust Please join me. Save the USA." (Twitter, 6/15/23)
