Haley Campaign Press Release - ABC News: Haley is Right about DeSantis' Support for Banning Fracking, Drilling

CHARLESTON, S.C. – ABC News declared Nikki Haley the winner in her skirmish with Ron DeSantis over fracking and drilling.

As a gubernatorial candidate, Ron DeSantis campaigned on banning drilling and fracking before Florida citizens voted on anything. He also issued an executive order banning fracking and drilling on his second day in office. The Florida constitutional amendment that passed in November 2018 had nothing to do with fracking.

"As he campaigned for governor in Florida in 2018, he actually promised on his campaign website that he would ban fracking and promised to do it on day one. So if you remember that interaction between the former governor, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley said he did it on day two. And in fact, that's right. He issued an executive order saying he was essentially directing all the agencies under his power to try to ban fracking. Now, the legislature is kind of not really accomplished that. But it's not because Ron DeSantis didn't want it to happen...
