First Lady Pool Reports of April 21, 2025

FLOTUS Pool #1

Good morning from the South Lawn, I'm your pooler for FLOTUS today. 

Per FLOTUS' comms team, the First Lady will read "Bunny with a Big Heart" by Marilyn Sadler, illustrated by Tim Bowers, at the Reading Nook during the event, the story of a forgetful bunny who gets injured, must stay in bed, and learns to be kinder to his family.  

Awaiting POTUS and FLOTUS who are scheduled to appear on the Blue Room Balcony before joining the Egg Roll. 

FLOTUS pool #2

FLOTUS appeared with the president and the Easter Bunny on the Blue Room Balcony about 11am ET. She's wearing a long off white trench coat, belted around her waist, with green heels with buckles.

FLOTUS and POTUS descended, and as POTUS takes questions, FLOTUS interacts with the children, who gather around her. She's watching the children do a relay egg roll race and her husband has joined her.

FLOTUS Pool #3

FLOTUS pool proceeded to Hopscotch after POTUS and FLOTUS sat with the children as they drew cards for military members. 

The Hopscotch is "Be Best" themed and decorated with eggs. Each egg reads "brave," or "caring," "smart" or "kind." 

FLOTUS joined the children by herself here and encouraged them as they played the game. 

We departed for the Reading Nook. Per a Daily Mail reporter, FLOTUS was asked about Pope Francis' death and she responded: "I'm sorry for your loss." 

At the Reading Nook, FLOTUS reads "Bunny with a Big Heart." The Nook is decorated with flowers and a white garden seat for the reading. More than 100 guests gathered for the reading. Lots of happy kids and crying babies present.

"Happy Easter! What a beautiful crowd!" She says. After reading the book, she asks the children what they learned. "Yes, we need to make friends and take care of them as well," she says to one child.

"Kindness, yes," she responds to another child. 

"I hope to see you next year," she concludes.
