Executive Order 9799—Authorizing the Secretary of State to Exercise the Authority of the President to Classify Positions Occupied By Chiefs of Mission
By virtue of the authority vested in my by section 303 of the Foreign Service Act of 1946, approved August 13, 1946 (Public Law 724, 79th Congress), and section 202 of the Revised Statutes (5 U. S. C. 156), and as President of the United States, I hereby authorize and direct the Secretary of State, in the interest of the internal management of the Government, to exercise the authority vested in the President by section 411 of the Foreign Service Act of 1946 to classify into four classes the positions which are to be occupied by chiefs of mission.
This order shall become effective on November 13, 1946.
