Executive Order 9432—Designation of Under Secretary and Assistant Secretaries of the Interior to Act as Secretary of the Interior

March 26, 1944

By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 179 of the Revised Statutes of the United States (5 U.S.C., sec. 6), I hereby authorize and direct the Under Secretary of the Interior to perform the duties of the Secretary of the Interior during the absence or sickness of the Secretary of the Interior; and I hereby further authorize and direct Assistant Secretary of the Interior Michael W. Straus or his successors, and in his absence or sickness Assistant Secretary of the Interior Oscar L. Chapman or his successors, to perform the duties of the Secretary of the Interior during the absence or sickness of both the Secretary and the Under Secretary of the Interior.

This order supersedes Executive Order No. 7277 of January 17, 1936.
