Executive Order 8416—Authorizing the Appointment of William T. Geurts to a Position as Senior Mediator, Maritime Labor Board, Without Regard to the Civil Service Rules

May 22, 1940

By virtue of the authority vested in me by the provisions of paragraph Eighth of subdivision SECOND of section 2 of the Civil Service Act (22 Stat. 403, 404), it is hereby ordered that William T. Geurts may be appointed to a position as Senior Mediator, Maritime Labor Board, without regard to his standing on the register of civil service eligibles.

This action is taken upon the recommendation of the Chairman of the Maritime Labor Board, who states that Mr. Geurts has performed effective and efficient service since his temporary appointment on May 2, 1939, under authority of section 2 of Civil Service Rule VIII, and that it would be in the interest of efficient administration to continue his services.
