Executive Order 5527—Authorizing the Appointment of Mrs. Mildred Barnes Mclnturff

January 07, 1931

Mrs. Mildred Barnes Mclnturff may be appointed to an appropriate position in the Department of Commerce without reference to the provisions of the civil service rules.

Mrs. Mclnturff is the wife of George F. Mclnturff, jr., a former employee of the Department of Commerce who was recently compelled to sever his connection with the department because of his physical condition.

This order is issued upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Commerce, who feels that Mr. MclnturfFs extreme devotion to duty and the long and irregular hours of service were largely responsible for his condition. He is the father of three small children, the oldest of whom is but thirteen years of age.
