Executive Order 5175—Authorizing the Appointment of Marjorie M. Noone Without Regard to Civil Service Rules

August 21, 1929

Mrs. Marjorie M. Noone may be appointed in an appropriate position in the Treasury Department without regard to the requirements of the civil service rules.

Mrs. Noone is the widow of Matthew J. Noone, who was employed in the Treasury Department for ten years immediately preceding July 11, 1929, when, because of heavy financial burdens and long-continued ill health, he took his own life, leaving his widow and three daughters, aged fourteen, twelve, and four years, without means of support. This Order is recommended by the Secretary of the Treasury.
