Excerpts of the President's News Conference

January 18, 1929

I was naturally pleased that the peace treaty was ratified. As I said at the last conference, the indications were that it would be ratified all right, and I think the importance of the treaty will grow among the people as it goes into operation. Twelve or fifteen nations have already adhered to it. I think ours was the first nation of those which signed it which has ratified it.
