August 15, 1980

The following listing includes the President's public schedule and other items of general interest announced by the White House Press Office and not included elsewhere in this issue.

August 9

The President, expressing concern over the potential impact of Hurricane Allen on portions of America's Southwest, dispatched John W. Macy, Jr., Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to Texas to serve as his personal representative on the scene. If requested, FEMA and other agencies are ready to move immediately to assist State and local governments in their ongoing recovery efforts. Federal personnel are enroute to duty stations in the threatened areas.

August 11

The President declared a major disaster for portions of the State of Texas as a result of Hurricane Alien, beginning on or about August 10, which caused extensive property damage.

August 12

The President returned to the White House from Camp David, Md.

August 13

The President left the White House for the trip to New York City.

August 15

The President left New York City for a stay at Camp David.
