DeSantis Campaign Press Release - DeSantis Gains Support of 10 Former Tim Scott Endorsers in South Carolina
DeSantis is headed back to the Palmetto State on December 1 to receive the Patriot Award from the Citadel Republican Society and will hold campaign events across the state
Tallahassee, FL - The DeSantis campaign today announced 10 new endorsements from South Carolina state legislators and community leaders who switched their support from Tim Scott to Ron DeSantis for president.
DeSantis is headed back to the Palmetto State on December 1, where he will hold campaign events in the Upstate and the Midlands. He will end the night in the Low Country to receive the Patriot Award from The Citadel Republican Society in Charleston, South Carolina. Previous recipients include Donald Trump and Nikki Haley.
The list of endorsers is below: State Representative Tom Hartnett, Jr. State Representative Bill Taylor Hampton Mayor Robert Brown Berkeley County Clerk of Court Leah Guerry Dupree Greenville County Coroner B. Parks Evans, Jr. Dorchester County Councilman Todd Friddle Barnwell City Councilman Jimbo Moody James Island Town Councilman Troy Mullinax Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Carl Ritchie Laurens County Soil & Water Commissioner Patrick Jackson
"Ron DeSantis is the leader we need for this exact moment. He not only is the only candidate who I know can win, but he will be president who will follow through on his promises to reverse the decline of our country," State Representative Tom Hartnett, Jr. said.
DeSantis also received an addition endorsement from Barnwell City Councilwoman Peggy Kinlaw.
"I support Ron DeSantis because his record as Governor is unmatched. DeSantis is a strong conservative who has protected our women and girls when other candidates have turned their backs on them. I call on my colleagues to unite around Ron DeSantis, who I know will lead us to victory in November 2024 and then deliver a bold, conservative agenda as President of the United States," Barnwell Mayor Pro Tem Peggy Kinlaw said.
DeSantis' total of elected official endorsements in the Palmetto State now stands at 68, the most publicly announced by any presidential campaign.
DeSantis boasts over 330 state-level endorsements, more than any other candidate in the race, in an impressive show of the strength and grassroots enthusiasm DeSantis is building across the country.
Last month, DeSantis unveiled his South Carolina Veterans Coalition Leadership Team before hosting the first official national Veterans for DeSantis coalition event in Anderson. In September, faith leaders from across the Palmetto State joined DeSantis' Faith and Family Coalition.
