Department of Energy Nomination of Ruth M. Davis To Be an Assistant Secretary.

The President today announced his intention to nominate Ruth M. Davis, of Silver Spring, Md., to be Assistant Secretary of Energy for Resource Applications. She would replace George S. McIsaac, who has resigned.

Davis is Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Advanced Technology.

She was born October 19, 1928, in Sharpsville, Pa. She received an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.

Davis was a lecturer at the University of Maryland from 1955 to 1957, and at American University from 1957 to 1958. From 1958 to 1961, she was in research management at David Taylor .Model Basin.

From 1961 to 1965, Davis was involved in research management at the Defense Department. From 1967 to 1970, she was director of the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications and Associate Director' for Research and Development at the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. Since 1977 she has been Deputy Under Secretary of Defense.
