Civil Aeronautics Board Nomination of George A. Dalley To Be a Member.

The President today announced that he will nominate George A. Dalley, of Washington, D.C., to be a member of the Civil Aeronautics Board for a term expiring December 31, 1982.

Dalley is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Social Affairs.

He was born August 25, 1941, in Havana, Cuba, and is a naturalized American citizen. He received a B.A. in economics and history from Columbia College in 1963, an LL.B. from Columbia University School of Law in 1966, and an M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, also in 1966.

From 1967 to 1969, Dalley was with the Metropolitan Applied Research Center, Inc., and from 1970 to 1971, he was an attorney with the firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. From 1971 to 1972, he was assistant counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary.

From 1972 to 1977, Dalley was administrative assistant to Congressman Charles Rangel. He has been Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Social Affairs since 1977, and is responsible for the formulation of U.S. human rights policy on the human rights and social issues which arise in the United Nations system.
