The President today announced that he will nominate William B. Schwartz, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Schwartz would replace Jack B. Olson.
Schwartz was born November 14, 1921, in Atlanta. He received a B.S. from the University of North Carolina in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.
From 1945 to 1968, Schwartz was with National Service Industries, retiring as corporate vice president. Since 1969 he has been president of Weine Investment Corp., an Atlanta real estate investment firm.
Schwartz is a member of the president's council of Brandeis University and of the Chatham Valley Foundation. He has served on the board of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
