International North Pacific Fisheries Commission Appointment of Dayton L. Alverson as a Commissioner of the U.S. Section.

The President today announced the appointment of Dayton L. Alverson, of Seattle, Wash., as a Commissioner of the United States Section of the International North Pacific Fisheries Commission.

Alverson was special assistant to the Assistant Administrator for Fisheries of the National Marine Fisheries Service until his retirement in 1980. He was with the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries for 14 years and served as Acting Director of the Bureau in 1969.

Alverson has served as a consultant to the State Department's Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs and as chairman of the Advisory Committee for Marine Resources Research of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. He is the author of numerous scientific and technical articles.
