Appointment of Vincent C. Gray as a Member of the President's Committee on Mental Retardation

The President today announced his intention to appoint Vincent C. Gray to be a member of the President's Committee on Mental Retardation for the remainder of the term expiring May 11, 1983. He would succeed A. Omie Brown.

Mr. Gray is currently serving as executive director of the D.C. Association for Retarded Citizens. He was elected president of the National Conference of Executives of Associations for Retarded Citizens in 1979. He is vice chairman of the Mayor's Committee on the Handicapped and is a member of the D.C. Advisory Council on Vocational Education.

He graduated from George Washington University (B.A., 1964; M.A., 1966). He is married, has two children, and resides in Largo, Md. He was born November 8, 1942.
