The President today announced his intention to nominate Richard Anthony Moore to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ireland. He would succeed Margaret M. O'Shaughnessy Heckler.
Since 1975 Mr. Moore has been associate producer for the McLaughlin Group in Washington, DC. He served as Special Counsel to the President at the White House, 1971 - 1974. In 1970 Mr. Moore was a confidential assistant to the Attorney General. From 1962 to 1970, he organized and was head of a number of television enterprises. He also served as chief executive officer for the Times Mirror Broadcasting Co., 1951 - 1962. He is also cofounder and chairman of the Television Bureau of Advertising.
Mr. Moore graduated from Yale College (B.A., 1936) and Yale Law School (LL.B., 1939). He served in the U.S. Army, 1942 - 1946. He was born January 23, 1914, in Albany, NY. Mr. Moore has five children and resides in Washington, DC.
